Happy Birthday WordPress

27th May 2018 marked the 15th Anniversary of WordPress. One of the most successful open source and CMS in the world same age as my daughter. I still remember my first experience using WordPress. It was a pleasant experience actually, which I easily made a decision to leave behind Dreamweaver and fully focus my skills on WordPress. What can I say, fast forward WordPress not just helping me contributing to my skills but also my business. Throughout the years, I develop myself not just as a web designer but also as WordPress trainer. I have travelled across the country teaching entrepreneurs to build and manage their own site just by using WordPress. Hmmm with that I just realised WordPress also helps me networking with people from all sorts of background. Entrepreneurs, web designers, IT administrators, and bloggers.

Anyway lately, I try to be active in my local WordPress community. Attended most of the meetup arranging by them and recently they organized a meetup just to celebrate this special occasion. The event was a huge success with high attendance and also made possible with sponsors supporting the local WordPress community. Companies such as Exabytes, Amanz Media and Mindblow came forward as sponsors plus some personal sponsorship from the community itself. It’s a great community and one of the best group I’d join so far via meetup.com. If you plan to join us feel free to join our meetup group. Oh ya, I even did a short video during the celebration and managed to snap some photos from my GoPro and iPhone 🙂

I do hope WordPress and its community will grow even though they’re so many challenges in this new digital era. With competitors keep on knocking, the platform getting better each year. Offering new features and developers keep on making better plugins that makes it fun to use. Oh ya, Gutenberg slowly coming into the picture and I’m super excited about it. I will write about it in my next post 🙂

Wow!!! this is an awesome product by MyNic. Why did I say that? not because they are one of my clients, but because this product is value for money. Before I go further, let me explain. What is GO2?

GO2 system work by creating a dedicated url (of your choice) and forward it to another application that is mobile friendly. It can be either, WhatsApp, Telegram, twitter, Instagram, Facebook and even to another web link. For a beginning, MyNic offering a starter package valued at RM33.00 and it is FREE for 1 year. This starter package is limited because it can only link with Whatsapp application and your url is limited with a wording ‘mesej’ locate at the front of url. For example, ‘mesejwordpress.my’. MyNic does offer other packages where you can have your own choice of URL and at the same time, you can link it with other social application. Welcome 2018

Hi everyone and Happy New Year. Yeah it’s 2018 so how’s your New Year resolution going especially the one in 2017. If you have trouble coping with it, it’s ok. Even I don’t have a new year resolution. I’m a very simple guy that just enjoying my life part by part. At the end, it’s up to you. If you comfortable in making a resolution, just go for it. Who am I to judge you :).

Anyway, I had a great 2017.  Traveled to Japan was one of the best experience I had in 2017. We traveled to Tokyo, Shizuoka, Kyoto, and Osaka. All our accommodation pre-arranged via AirBNB and I’m glad everything was smooth even though one of the obstacles moving from one place to another place was carrying our 20kg luggage 😀 . Another interesting story I can share was that I entered a photo competition/exhibition organized by Fujifilm Malaysia. Happy to say I was one of the lucky 100 winners from out of 3000 images submitted for the competition. With that, I won 1 Instax camera and also goodies from Fujifilm Malaysia. Thank you, Fujifilm 🙂

So what I do hope in 2018? I just wish the best for my family and lovely people around me. Be successful in whatever things you aim for and focus on your goal. As for me, I hope I can be a better person than I was before 🙂

Last minute signup by me to participate in this activity organized by FunSportz (GoPro Malaysia Official Distributor). It was held at ‘Slide In The City’ Setia Alam. Such a great event for GoPro community in Malaysia with opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas. We were split into few groups with participants required to use their GoPro to its full potential. You name it, video, photo, burst mode and even timelapse. From there we need to edit our video using GoPro Quik App and submit it to the organizer.

Alhamdulillah I was chosen as one of the lucky winner (yup, I got the 3rd prize) and with that, I won one piece of battery and a dual charger.  That charger pretty handy actually especially when I’m traveling I can just use it to charge my phone and GoPro at the same time. Below is my entry that got me 3rd place 🙂

Hi guys, as you know that’s the default WordPress greeting page for your blog post. At the moment I just going to keep that for sentimental value… hehehe.

Oh by the way, welcome to my blog. It’s been a few years since I skip blogging. I deleted my old blog which was under my previous site and since I deleted it, I turn that site as my portfolio site. This site will be more towards sharing my opinions and thoughts regarding technology especially photography, videography, mobile and web technology. At the same time I’ll be sharing some of my activities that will lead back to all the stuff mentioned earlier.

Feel free to leave any comments and I hope you enjoy your stay here 🙂

p/s: oh ya, by the way… I may write in Bahasa Malaysia for this blog, because I feel there’re already lots of English material online and at the same time by now I bet you’ve realised my poor command of English… hehehe. Yes, I only take English as a medium of communication, not as a gauge of intelligence 🙂
